Leonid Lamm: The morning of Our Motherland

This is another exhibition that amazed me in The Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum. The title also known as "Labor Camp Near Rostov-on-Don". This installation showed the Leonid's experience in the Prison. I was amazed by the explicitly of the scene and detail in the camp.

First photo: The central component of the installation "Birth of an Image" is Lamm's 1987 composition, a modified version of "The Morning of Our Motherland," set against a black screen. Two rows of 10 black plywood boxes mounted on black, wooden posts extend from either side of the black screen, giving the structured effect of a prison. The window of each black box exhibits sketches of Lamm's Labor Day project.

Third photo: Example of his sketch and detail description of the scene. This is a worth looking exhibition. I googled it and found there is a book called"Leonid Lamm: Birth of an image" for sale. I am going to get it as my souvenir.
